High-efficient, high-safety, and low-cost electrochemical energy storage technologies are crucial pathways to achieve the carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals. Lithium-ion batteries are currently the most widely used secondary batteries, which have made significant contributions to the national economy and social development. However, the resource and safety issues have remained fundamentally unresolved, which becomes a bottleneck issue affecting the sustainable development of human society. Therefore, the development of next generation of electrochemical energy storage technologies with abundant resources is of strategic importance for achieving sustainability and has become a key element in the national development strategies of various countries. This forum will focus on academic exchanges related to the international technological frontiers and industrial development needs of next generation of battery systems. We sincerely invite colleagues from the scientific, educational, and industrial sectors engaged in the new generation of battery systems to showcase fundamental, strategic, forward-looking, and innovative new ideas, achievements, technologies, products, and equipment. This aims to promote the development and progress of new generation battery systems such as magnesium-ion batteries, sodium-ion batteries, potassium-ion batteries, redox flow batteries, halide-ion batteries, and solid-state batteries, all of which serve the national carbon peaking and carbon neutrality strategy and energy transition strategy.
